Nam Prik Pao BLT with Nam Prik Pao Aioli

A great BLT is all about balance. Crispy bacon, juicy tomatoes, cool lettuce, and toasted bread. This version gets an extra layer of flavor from a smoky, savory Nam Prik Pao aioli that transforms a classic into something unforgettable.

The aioli is creamy and rich with roasted chilies, caramelized garlic, and just enough umami to make every bite more interesting. It doesn't overpower the sandwich—it simply makes everything else taste better.

It's familiar, comforting, and proof that one spoonful of Nam Prik Pao belongs just as much on a sandwich as it does in a stir-fry.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp Nam Prik Pao (Pink Salt’s Thai Roasted Chili Jam)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp honey (optional, for sweetness)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Aioli: In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Nam Prik Pao, garlic (if using), lime juice, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well mixed. If desired, add honey for a touch of sweetness.
  2. Chill: Cover and refrigerate the aioli for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld
  3. Assemble Your BLT:
  • Lettuce: Crisp iceberg or romaine works well.
  • Tomatoes: Choose ripe, juicy tomatoes (heirloom if possible).
  • Bread: Toast thick slices of bread (sourdough or country white) for added crunch, brushing them with bacon fat for extra flavor.

       4. Serve: Spread the Nam Prik Pao aioli generously on the toasted bread, layer with            bacon, lettuce, and tomato, and enjoy a flavor-packed sandwich with a unique Thai          twist..

Tips for a Next-Level BLT:

  • Bacon: Opt for thick-cut, high-quality bacon for the perfect balance of crispiness and chew.
  • Tomatoes: Use the ripest, freshest tomatoes you can find. Heirloom tomatoes are particularly flavorful.
  • Bread: The right bread makes all the difference. Toasting adds texture in bacon fat adds flavor and prevents sogginess.
  • Mayo: Don’t skimp on the mayonnaise! It’s the glue that holds everything together and adds a creamy richness.
